No I haven’t gone away again, it’s just been a busy week. Thankfully, other than Ernesto, the rest of these days have been pretty tame, and look to be tame moving forward for the foreseeable future.
So far the second half of August hasn’t been overly hot, but we did manage to set 6 new record highs since August 15th. In the first half of August we set 6 new highs and 4 new record lows. (expand for more)
This is a bit of a change from July, which set 30 new record highs, 3 new record lows, and 1 all time max low. June was also a hot one (once it got going), setting 37 new record highs, 1 record low, 3 new max highs for all of June, and 1 highest high ever recorded.
To paint a picture some folks would rather ignore: Since March 27th (as far back as I could easily go today), we’ve set 127 new record daily highs, and 10 new record daily lows. Those include the all time warm low, the 3 new max highs for all of June, and the all time highest temperature ever recorded. Anyone who tells you this is normal has a very loose understanding of how climate and statistics are supposed to work.
