Happy Saint Patrick’s Day. Unfortunately, we don’t have much green in the forecast, maybe a little white though. Looks like we might qualify for Sheila’s brush this year, although it shouldn’t be a huge amount of snow for most areas.
There is a snowfall warning in effect for Port aux Basques. There’s roughly 20 mm of precipitation expected in that area, but with mild-ish temperatures that looks like it will translate to about 10 to 15 cm of snow. This one looks like a classic snow to drizzle and showers event. One thing we will have to keep an eye on is that often these trowal systems end up skinnier than the guidance predicts. So we tend to lose an hour or two of snowfall ahead of them, which can sometimes make the difference between a warning or not. We shall see!
Otherwise, there’s a Wreckhouse warning in effect, and some west coast downslope wind warnings going up to Bonne Bay. You can find all the details for those alerts here.
