Well look at that, we broke a temperature record yesterday in Daniel’s Harbour. Details here.
Otherwise, read up the latest on your active alerts here. There’s a lot of winter storms issued, and this is a pretty complex system with a lot of moving parts and tricky precipitation transition zones. We’re also potentially looking at similar snowfall totals to Snowmageddon, so be prepared to be at cleanup for several days. If we’re lucky, hopefully they will be no major prolonged power outages, although I suspect some isolated areas might see some.
Do what you can to prepare ahead of time. No need to go crazy, but a few things that are either easy to cook or don’t require any cooking would be a decent idea. You don’t need weeks of food, but maybe 2 or 3 days to allow the snow clearing crews to clean out the major roads and get things moving again. Help your neighbours! (you should do that from time to time anyway, but especially after big storms). Finally, stay safe. There will likely be nowhere to go, so don’t add rescue operations to this mess.
I will be on night shift tonight, so any further updates, especially of day 6 and 7 will likely come late tomorrow, once I wake myself out of post-shift hibernation.
