This mess of a slow moving multi-problem system continues. You can find the latest warnings and watches here, and there are a lot of them. Similarly, we’ve broken somewhere between 20 and 30 temperature records over the past 2 days, the latest from yesterday can be found here.
As far as impacts go, I am super grateful that the rain seems to have spared the TCH between Deer Lake and Port aux Basques for the time being. Hopefully as the water drains it won’t create any problems. Many areas are seeing rainfall totals up over 100 mm. Burgeo is the big “winner” so far, with a total of 227.7 mm. I’ve been told there’s a lot of flooding in the area and a lot of flooded basements, no reports of any washouts yet, so we’re keeping our fingers crossed that it will remain that way. Most of the significant rain is pushed further east now, but there’s still a few more hours of it left. Now we enter the winter storm part of this pre-Christmas medley. If we’re lucky, roads can at least get cleared by Christmas Day so that people can get out and visit family. Once again, stay safe folks!
